Today rapid advancement in technology is changing the way we think and learn. New technology brings new trends such as BYOD and now new teaching methods such as flipped classrooms and 1:1 learning environments. Tablets in the classroom are becoming the norm but what's next?
To satisfy today's tech friendly (or should I say tech dependent) students, school officials need to stay one step ahead of their pupils. Enter the latest in Wearable Technology, Google Glass. For those of you who are not aware of Google X's latest development, Google Glass is a wearable computer created in the form of see through lenses that run on Android 4.0.4 and higher. With the ability to run applications, watch and record videos in 720p and gain information at faster than ever speeds, one must ask if there is in fact a place for Google Glass in the classroom.
While some people are not ready to jump onto the Google Glass bandwagon, the thought of students participating in virtual class trips or teachers being able to connect with students and or faculty outside of the classroom is exciting nonetheless. While it might be too early to envision wearable technology such as Google Glass implemented into our school's, it is at least fair to ask if it has a future in an educational environment.
Do you feel that Google Glass or similar technology will find it's way into the classroom much like tablets have today? Share your opinions with a TTI expert today!
